Six years later and 17 kilos lighter, Juhi Parmar right) is set to return to the small screen with a daily mythological series, Shani.
The actress, who became a household name with Kumkum, plays the Hindu deity (played by Kartikey Malviye)’s mother, Sangya on the show.
Former cricketer and actor Salil Ankola (in pic) plays her husband, lord Surya.
An excited Juhi says, “Shani is my first historical-mytho series and the strong narrative makes me feel privileged to be a part of this team. It is a show that will change the perception of many people about folklore surrounding the deity. My character is intriguing because there are multiple layers to the personality.”
Ankola says the show answers one of Hindu society’s biggest questions: Why lord Shani is associated with negative occurrences. “This is a concept that has not been explored on television before,” he adds.
