It’s family timeu00a0
I am happy to be spending Diwali at home with my family. It’s been a great year for me, so I am really celebrating and having fun. In Kerala, my family consists of not only my parents but also my students, fellow dancers, staff, etc. For Diwali, all of us got together and did a spring-cleaning of the studio. We made lovely kolams and decorated the place with hibiscus and mogra flowers. It looked beautiful decked in white and red.

Traditional touch
We live in a village and our Diwali is a simple one. Of course, we did the pooja at home. The place was lit up with lots of lamps. We made sweets at home. I love sweets and ate lots of them. In the evening, we burst some crackers but not lots of them. Though I know they are not good for the environment, what’s Diwali without some crackers? I love sparklers, chakris and anars, which give out light.

In the mood
Festive season is time to go traditional. A nice Kanjeevaram sari or a simple white and gold cotton salwar kameez is perfect for me.
