Indian television actors who have disappeared from the scene and those who have made a comeback
The year has been quite a happening one for television with some path-breaking shows and the introduction of new talents. While taking a look at this year, HitList points out some emerging stars of 2013 while also noting some of the iconic actors who have moved into oblivion.

Fading away
Cezanne Khan
He took up acting leaving behind his career in management and immediately got noticed. Ekta Kapoor picked him up for her show Kasautii Zindagii Kay and made him a household name with the character of Anurag Basu in 2004. Cezzane, whose family consists of artistes, did get a couple of shows once Kasautii was over, but did not manage to get similar popularity. Now it is said that the actor is busy doing shows in the Middle East, but has not singed any Indian show since 2007. Recently, Ekta offered him a show, but things did not work out between the two.
Mona Vasu
She was last seen in Parichay, but her claim to fame remains Milli (2006). Mona has been part of many shows later and a reality show, Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao, which helped her gain some limelight. But overall, she is still remembered for Milli. The actress had kept herself busy with a play for a brief period.
Amar Upadhyay
He received immense fame for his hugely popular portrayal of Mihir in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. However, he decided to quit television in order to aim for the big screen. Unfortunately, he couldn’t command the same love he enjoyed. So far, he has lots of Bhojpuri films under his belt and has appeared on a few television shows.
Juhi Parma
She was undoubtedly the most loved character of Kumkum. After getting hitched with actor Sachin Shroff, she appeared in two reality shows — Bigg Boss and Pati Patni Aur Woh -- two years ago. Early this year she gave birth to daughter Samaira and is happy with her new role of a mother.
Amit Tandon
He first faced the camera thanks to Indian Idol’s first season, as one of the aspiring singers. Amit was an instant hit amongst the girls. As a result, he started getting offers for acting. Finally making his TV debut in Ekta Kapoor’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, he proceeded to do few more shows. His singing ambitions make him cut his own album only to vanish from the scene.
Sharad Malhotra
It was his role of a mentally challenged person in Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann that helped him win loads of accolades. He went on to do a reality show and a cameo in 2009. Later, he went to the New York Film Academy to complete a course in filmmaking and has been missing in action since then. In between, Sharad tried his luck with the forgettable film From Sydney With Love. He was also involved with his co-star Divyanka Tripati and has allegedly broken off with her a while back.
Emerging back
Nia Sharma
This Delhi girl had struggled in the television industry for a couple of years now. Even though she made her debut in Kaali, it was her role of a loving and caring sister in Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai that helped her reach to a top position. As of now, Nia’s show is off air now and she hasn’t taken up any work at the moment.
Kushal Tandon
Model-turned-actor Kushal’s character of Virat in Ek Hazaaraon Mein Meri Behna gave him the right launch pad. He turned out to be popular with a huge female fan following. He took part in Nach Baliye’s last season with his then girlfriend Elena Boeva. This 28-year-old-actor garnered lot of positive as well as negative feedbacks for the ongoing show Bigg Boss 7 where he has confessed his love for co-contestant Gauahar Khan.
Ritwik Dhanjani
With Pyaar Ki Ek Kahani and Pavitra Rishta, Ritwik has made himself a name in no time by doing 12 shows within a span of three years. He is a trained dancer and was also part of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’s previous season and impressed everyone with his dancing skills. Currently he and his lady love Asha Negi are part of Nach Baliye 6.
Surbhi Jyoti
A talented theatre actress made her mark in her debut show Qubool Hai . She has managed to create a lot of buzz in the industry with her acting and has done few shows as well as films. Her sizzling on screen chemistry with co-star Karan Singh Grover in the show is the talk of town.
Deepika Sing
With her debut show Diya Baati Aut Hum, this youngster from Punjab tested quick success. Today she has become a part of everyone’s family and has been winning several honours too for her performance. Interestingly, Deepika completed her MBA before turning to acting.
Still kicking
There are some actors who have proved to be evergreen in the industry over the period of time. It seems that age or era has not made any difference to them. Also with each passing year, they are simply stunning the younger generation with their brilliance.
