How did you come on board for 'Naam Reh Jayega?'

Lataji has been my inspiration ever since I was a kid. She had embodied Ma Saraswati for me, I worship her. When I was approached by Gajendra Singhji for this beautiful tribute they were giving to Lata ji on star plus called 'Naam Reh Jaayega,' I was instantly on board. I definitely wanted to associate myself with such a respectful genuine heartfelt tribute given to my idol. I’m really happy to be a part of 'Naam Reh Jaayega.' I think it’s a treat to every person who’s life has been touched my Lataji.

Did you have the chance to meet and interact with Lataji?

I met Lataji when I was a kid. I remember I’d gone to meet her directly from my school. She was in Indore and I was living there, Indore was her birthplace as well. I met her and she had some idea about my charity work she said 'Beti jo tum yeah seva ka karya kar rahi ho usse hamesh jaari rakhna, rokna mat, jab tum ek badi gayika ban jaogi kal tab bhi isse rokna mat, kyunki sahi mayno mein yahi sangeet ki aasli aaradhana hai.' These words stayed with me throughout my journey, they inspired me, motivated me in every step of my life. This memory is going to remain with me forever.

Your favourite Lata Mangeshkar songs?

It’s very difficult to choose my favourite song of Lata ji’s. 'Lag Ja Gale' is most favourite song sung by her. I remember performing at Royal Albert hall, London when I was 6 years old. I again performed there in 2015, both the times I sang her songs. While growing up I listened to this cassette called Lata Live at Royal Albert hall and had its memories very fresh in my heart. I wanted to give a tribute to her when I was performing at the same venue so 'Lag Ja Gale' is very special.
