Gajraj Rao roped in to play the leading role in Mangesh Hadawale's Thai Massage

Imtiaz Ali to produce the satirical movie with Gajraj Rao as main lead

After wowing the audience in Badhaai Ho (2018) and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan (2020), Gajraj Rao will now headline Thai Massage. Imtiaz Ali’s production is a satire, which will be helmed by Malaal (2019) director Mangesh Hadawale. Known for his comic timing, Rao’s co-star is Mirzapur 2 actor Divyenndu Sharma. The film will go on floors in April.

After being part of the industry for over two decades, Rao is thrilled that he is playing the lead. He ventured into Bollywood in 1994 with Shekhar Kapur's Bandit Queen and was later seen in films like Shah Rukh Khan's Dil Se..., Anurag Kashyap's Black Friday, Irrfan Khan-starrer Talvar and Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut-starrer Rangoon. However, his luck turned in 2018 with Badhaai Ho. He was since then done films such as Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Lootcase.

Talking about what kind of work he looks forward to doing now, the 50-year-old actor is realistic, he wants roles that suit his age. "It (the film) has to have a good script, then I get to do a different role. The roles that suit my age and are viable in the project (are the ones I want). I am getting a lot of scripts and reading them. Hopefully, I will come with some good work for the audience in the coming years," Gajraj told IANS.
