Hi Mitaali! Do you celebrate ‘Tulsi vivah’?

Yes, I do. It’s the start of the wedding season. I, particularly follow the ‘good muhurat’ and the ‘bad muhurat’. Post the Tulsi Vivah, all the good muhurat starts, which is an extremely auspicious time for the wedding bells.

Any memories associated with ‘Tulsi vivah’?

When I was a kid, I was staying in a joint family. Those days, my naani was also there. The ‘Tulsi vivah’ was conducted at home. Post the ‘Tulsi vivah’, there used to be yummy food. I still miss those days.

Do you follow the traditional ‘Tulsi vivah’?

I try my best to follow the traditional ‘Tulsi vivah’ as much as possible. But, staying in a nuclear family in Mumbai and working as well, it’s a bit challenging to follow the ‘Tulsi vivah’ in the traditional way. I, anyways, worship the ‘Tulsi mata’s plants throughout the year. Whenever we do 'Tulsi Vivah' we don’t call the pandit ji here (in Mumbai). We sometimes take help of YouTube while doing pooja.

What’s your message to the readers of Mid Day on the occasion of ‘Tulsi vivah’?

I am a person who likes to follow our tradition as much as I can. All the people out there, I would really appreciate if they can take time out and include ‘Tusli Vivah’ as a part of your celebrations. As I said, ‘Tulsi Vivah’ marks the beginning of the auspicious wedding season. So, here's wishing a very Happy ‘Tulsi Vivah’ to all the Mid-Day readers.
