Pritam Singh says Baisakhi is New Year for Punjabis. This spring harvest festival is celebrated all across North India and the RJ-host-actor shares one does not get to see so much festivity in Mumbai. Singh reveals that people visit gurudwara, cook good food, make sweets and celebrate happy occasion with friends and family.

“Such traditional festivals obviously makes you happy, after all, such things bring the family together. Baisakhi is special for us Punjabis. But like last year, this year too we have to be careful while making merry because the virus is spreading,” he cautions everyone.

On the occasion of Baisakhi, people visit gurudwara, where religious programs are being held. “Langars aur bhajans bhi hota hai. Also, people meet and greet each other, share pleasantries, visit friends and relatives… Since I was born and raised in Nagpur, so our celebrations were different from how it is in North India, so I don’t have a special memory. Whatever I have seen is mostly on TV or heard from my parents,” shares the former Bigg Boss contestants.

Singh highlights the toil farmers put in during cultivation. He also mentions the ongoing farmer’s protest at several Delhi border points against the three farm bills.
“Every year, farmers go through a lot of problems but they still put in a lot of hard work sweat in the field to produce fresh vegetables and fruits. They deserve our love, respect and support. I hope this Baisakhi brings in some good news for the farmers still protesting. I hope their demands would be considered and understood, and the government and our farmers would be able to sort the situation,” adds Singh.
