Ramayan actor Chandrakant Pandya no more; Dipika Chikhlia, Sunil Lahri pay tribute

Actor Chandrakant Pandya, who played the role of Nishad Raj in Ramanand Sagar's mythological show 'Ramayan', is no more. His co-star actress Dipika Chikhlia, who played the role of Sita in the show, took to Instagram stories and informed about the actor's sudden demise. 


Dipika paid a tribute on social media and shared a picture with the caption, ‘#RIP Chandrakant Pandya – Nishad Raj of Ramayan."


As soon as the news broke on the internet, Sunil Lahri, who was also a part of Ramayan, shared his condolences. Taking to Instagram Sunil wrote, "Ramayan ke Ek Aur kalakar Nishad Raj ka Abhinaya Karne Wale kalakar Chandrakant Ji Ab Hamare beech Nahin Rahe Bhagwan Unki Atma ko Shanti De. Om Shanti."

Earlier this month, the television industry also lost another Ramayan actor Arvind Trivedi, who played the role of Ravan in Ramanand Sagar’s 1987 iconic TV series.

Ramayan first aired on Doordarshan in 1987. The series was aired again during the first lockdown amid the Covid-19 pandemic. For the unversed, Chandrakant Pandya has been a part of films like Sampoorna Mahabharat, Hote Hote Pyaar Hogaya, Teja, Yeh Majhdaar, among others.
