How did ‘Pyar Karte Ho Na’ come to life?
Mohsin: This is our first song with Universal and they wanted an Indian track. The hook-line of the mukhda was very catchy ‘Chalo sach bata do pyar humse karte ho na, juda hone ke khayalon se tum bhi darte ho na.’ They got excited by the melody and asked us to develop it. We brought in tabla, dholak, acoustic guitar and they loved the vintage feel. Azeem Dayani is the music supervisor of the song and we had worked with him for Shershaah, so he is a dear friend. Azeem too loved the mukhda and said it’s turned out to be a larger than life romantic track.
Jasmin Bhasin and Mohsin Khan's chemistry is being loved’?
Mohsin: They have really done justice to the song. You need the right chemistry for this magical duet by Shreya Ghoshal ma’am and Stebin Ben. It’s a hero-heroine song, a cinematic duet. We loved the way Mohsin Khan and Jasmin Bhasin carried the song. Aditya Dutt who shot the song has also done a fabulous job and so has Danish Sabri who wrote the lyrics.
How did Shreya Ghoshal and Stebin Ben come on board?
Mohsin: The first time we called her, she heard the melody over the phone and agreed to sing it. She always goes out of the way to support us. She dubbed the song and sent it to us and that was the final version because she always sings perfectly. Stebin is the new singing star, he has done a phenomenal job.
In the age of remixes, most of your songs have been original, with a vintage feel…
Javed: Even this song has a 90s melody but keeping todays sound in mind, what today’s generation would like. We believe that melody is the king.
Mohsin: Our song from Jalebi ‘Pal’ with Arjit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal ma’am that was also a strong melody. We keep a lot of solo instruments in our songs to beautify the melody.
