After waiting for nine months, Avinash Tiwary has not one, but two releases back-to-back. “That’s indeed a lot to be grateful about,” says the actor of Khakee: The Bihar Chapter fame. While he will be seen in the Shujaat Saudagar directorial venture, Bambai Meri Jaan, which streams on Amazon Prime Video on September 14, it will be followed with Disney+ Hotstar’s Kaala, directed by Bejoy Nambiar.

In Bambai Meri Jaan, which is set in post-independence Bombay’s underworld era, he says, “It talks about power [where I play] the big guy. In Kaala, I’m trying to find the truth behind what goes into breaking the big guy’s image. Both stories are poles apart.” Hoping to prove his versatility with these projects, he says, “It is overwhelming for sure but exciting for me as an actor. I have had a great time filming.”
