Excited to explore roles beyond comedy, Raghav Juyal on his upcoming thriller, Gyaarah Gyaarah

Comedy is his forte, but actor-choreographer Raghav Juyal is thrilled that filmmakers are ready to cast him in roles beyond his comic persona. The actor, who is currently working on the investigative fantasy series, Gyaarah Gyaarah—the Hindi remake of the Korean series Signal—believes that the Umesh Bisht’s directorial venture has “pushed me out of my comfort zone”. “People have usually seen me in comic roles and loved me. But Gyaarah Gyaarah helped me as an actor. The show is layered and not your run-of-the-mill investigative series. Since Abhay [2019], I have found thriller projects to be quite exciting. I am looking forward to people’s reaction to Gyaarah Gyaarah,” says Juyal of the series produced by Guneet Monga and Karan Johar.

It was imperative for Juyal to break the mould of comedy, as he feared that he would be bracketed in the genre. “I didn’t want that to happen in my filmography. I’m here for a variety of roles. I am glad that the makers of Gyaarah Gyaarah saw me and gave me a chance to do something that is not a trope of cliches. It is exciting to go on sets, embody a new role, and essay a layered character. I hope that keeps evolving,” adds Juyal, who will also be seen in the action drama, Yudhra.
