Rohit Shetty’s decision to foray into digital entertainment paid off. While it was something he already estimated, no one expected that the success would come so quickly.

Indian Police Force, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, and Vivek Oberoi, has garnered over 10 million views within a week of its release. Now, Amazon Prime Video has greenlit the second season of the series, with development processes expedited to meet the insatiable demand of eager viewers.

“The show was made to garner a whole new section of the audience—masses who loved the Singham franchise. Indian Police Force was a tentpole show for Amazon Prime Video, and it achieved what it set out to do,” informs a source, adding that although a second season was always in the plans, expediting was never in the designs. The show ends with the Kathmanu track. “The [series] will be kept distinct from the Singham, Simmba, and |Sooryavanshi worlds and won’t merge them in the subsequent season either. In the weeks to come, as the new season is developed, a crucial call will be taken if they want to extend the same storyline or go beyond and start a new story with the same characters,” adds the source.
