Stardust actor Wamiqa Gabbi on pairing up with Bengali superstar Prosenjit for series

Following her cameo in Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal in 2009, Wamiqa Gabbi has taken calculated decisions to suitably chart her career trajectory. Apart from Netflix’s Mai, and Vishal Bhardwaj’s Khufiya, she shoulders the responsibility of the lead in Stardust, alongside Bengali actor, Prosenjit Chatterjee. Gabbi, who featured in the web project Grahan, says the show opened several doors for her.
“Working on Stardust was a learning experience. During a shoot in Mumbai, Vikram sir [Vikramaditya Motwane, director] shared visual references for a scene. I’ve never worked like that. Seeing that reference was beautiful. Sometimes, approaching a scene visually makes [it better].”

Amazon Prime Video’s project, also starring Aparshakti Khurana, is set in ’40s Bollywood. Gabbi says with co-actors who are backed with several years of experience, she had a lot to grasp. “I had to learn and unlearn a lot of things to get the pitch and tone of the character right. Collaborating with my co-stars set me on a learning curve.”
