A shocking second wave of coronavirus in India has seen hospitals and crematoriums inundated and extensive scarcities of oxygen and medicines. Record numbers of cases and deaths have been there in the country and the deaths and case numbers in India are carrying on to rise fast, stimulated by a new variant. India is on a daily basis making new records with COVID. The country has a never-ending shortage of space on its intensive care wards, with several patients' families forced to drive for miles to try to find a bed for their dear one. A few streets outside medical facilities have become jam-packed with the seriously ill, their dear ones trying to arrange oxygen supplies and stretchers for them as they beg with hospital authorities for a place within.
Despite a Delhi court declaring that India is in the grip of a "tsunami" and hospitals turning patients away because of lack of beds and oxygen, people in many parts of India are either avoiding or unable to access research.
