Aiming to make a difference through art is Paint Hope, an initiative by Dubai-based non-profit Start World and a Class 12 student as well as her co-ordinator from RN Podar School. In Mumbai, Start has been conducting free art workshops for children with special needs, orphans and underprivileged children to help them express their critical thinking and augment emotional and cognitive development.

As part of Paint Hope, there will be a large-scale workshop with Class 3 school kids from RN Podar and underprivileged children from municipal schools, which will be conducted by an artist. The theme for the art workshop is ‘An ideal world for animals’. The children will be working in mixed groups (different grades and backgrounds).

Anushree Chatterji, who is a manager at Start India, explains that the event promotes inclusiveness: “We wish to make children coming from different backgrounds work with each other in groups sharing the same platform and ideas to create something unique.

We are also trying to create awareness about animals and the environment. We hope to stir a question in the young minds as to what they could do differently.”
