A group of nature lovers and artists gather on Sundays at various Mumbai sites of historical importance or natural beauty to translate what they see on canvas. Photographer Uday Devrukhkar took these pictures

Art and nature lovers belonging to a group called Sanskar Bharti have been coming together since 2005, to spend time together on a Sunday morning as they observe, sketch and draw what they see.

Started in 1984, Sanskar Bharti, which is associated with art, performance, sculpture, photography and painting, takes members to various natural spots and man-made structures for mixed experiences.

They have been to Kanheri Caves in Borivali National Park, Jogeshwari Caves, Mahakali Caves in Andheri and Elephanta Caves, where they sketch what they see. They have also visited Hutatma Chowk, Gateway of India and CST to sketch and paint these places.

The group is a mix of college students, working people and senior citizens, with both men and women who practice art as a hobby and as a profession.
