In early December, over 3,500 under-15 children will assemble at Bandra Kurla Complex to participate in the second edition of Juniorthon, touted as the city’s largest marathon for kids.
These include participants from Dubai, Pune, Aurangabad and Surat too. The categories include a 0.5 km parent-child run (six to eight years), 1 km-run for beginners (six to 11 years), 2 km-run for amateurs (six to 13 years), 4 km-run for pros (11 to 15 years) along with The Happy Run, an inspirational 0.5 km marathon for differently abled kids.
“We will have tight security en route along with 50-plus volunteers, bikers and cyclists to patrol the route, provide first aid and water on the go. We also have doctors, an ambulance and physiotherapists on stand-by,” says Bhavna Mehta, founder and creative director, Party Sharty Entertainment, the organisers of the event.
After the run, guests can attend a fitness expo-cum-carnival that includes food stalls, ballet, Capoeira and Zumba performances by kids and endurance building activities like laddering, slack line, maze walk, puzzles, camping tents and parachute play.
