Karsh Kale is back in Mumbai, and loving it. "I've been coming to Mumbai since I was a kid. It's Mumbai where my mother was born and I grew up. It has always been an inspiring place," he tells us. Tonight, the multi-talented musician will perform his first ever trio performance featuring guitarist Blackstratblues aka Warren Mendonsa and flautist Pandit Ajay Prasanna.
Though Kale does visit India from time to time for tours and collaborations, this gig is special. "Warren and I have been collaborating for the past eight years. His musical sense and mine have always been in sync. He is a mainstay of anything I've been involved with," he says. Pandit Prasanna, known for his prowess in the gaayaki and tantrakari styles of playing the flute, is someone Kale is looking forward to performing alongside, all over again. "I've had the privilege of collaborating with him for pretty much my entire musical career, since the beginning. His ability, proficiency and awesome vibe to go in any direction we choose is what makes him unique," says Kale of the flautist.
With two diverse artistes accompanying him, one can expect a heady confluence of sounds. "My show is going to be an interactive live DJ set, with the musicians interacting with electronic layers and elements. For the rest, you will need to come to the gig and find out," he signs off.
