From handlooms to handicraft, a new show offers the best displays of local art from the heart of India

Shop for traditional handloom products from Madhya Pradesh at a unique show that opens at Jehangir Art Gallery today. Titled, Marvels from Madhya Pradesh, the show will have on display works produced by local artisans and craftsmen from the state.

On offer are hand-block prints in traditional styles like Batik as well as the lesser-known Bagh prints (made from vegetable colours) and Dabu prints – a form of printing which is produced using mud and come with pre-dominantly flower motifs.

Organised by Sant Ravidas MP Hastashilp Evam Hathkargha Vikas Nigam Ltd through its artisanal unit, Mrignayanee, the show will also be offering a collection of silk products including Chanderi, Maheshwari and Tussar silk sarees as well as readymade dress materials.

Visitors can also shop from a variety of leather goods and stone works made by the local artisans.

As for those with an inclination for art, they can buy Gond paintings as well as products inspired from their motifs.
