Next week, India Post is organising a two-day district level festival of stamps in Navi Mumbai, that will include exhibitions, contests, games and even booths where you can make a stamp with your photograph, to add a personal touch to a gift or a letter.

A special stamp cover with Navi Mumbai mangroves as the theme will also be released during the festival. It will be available at the fest’s philatelic counter.

PN Ranjit Kumar, postmaster general, Mumbai region, said, “More than an exhibition or a contest, this is a festival. Stamp contests are now very technical, with more than 200 rules used to judge them. Through this festival, we want to encourage and invite people, who are not into stamp collection, to participate. We have also organised elocution and painting competitions for school children.”
