If You've been wanting to travel to far-flung destinations but don't have pockets deep enough for it, a new web series might be of help to you. Under The Rupee follows filmmaker and musician Rohan Thakur as he explores countries whose currency is weaker than the Indian Rupee.
Launched by The Vibe, a digital-first lifestyle content platform, the series is shot entirely as a first person account. It aims to give viewers an immersive look at travelling and backpacking around the globe in a pocket-friendly manner.
The first destination on Thakur's itinerary for the series is Hungary, where he takes in the sights and meets some interesting people. He was earlier seen in the Way Back Home series - a travelogue that rediscovered the lower Indian Himalayas in 13 episodes.
"We all look for value for money while travelling. In fact, not many people know that you can pull off a 10-day trip to Hungary, not including airfare, in under Rs 40,000. Next, we will be showcasing Iceland, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Cambodia," says Asad Abid, executive producer and co-founder, The Vibe.
