The Grassroutes Fireflies Festival, which is in its seventh year, offers a chance to witness this surreal spectacle and get a dose of authentic rural life.
Participants can try tasks like wood chopping and sowing of paddy fields, followed by a dip in the nearby river to cool off. Meals are simple and organic, with traditional Puran Poli and Amti served in the homes of villagers.
The display begins just after twilight, with canopies of luminous fireflies dancing before your eyes like fairy lights. This phenomenon occurs once a year and is most visible two-weeks before the onset of the monsoons.
