Careless driving caused majority of road accidents in Mumbai in 2020: Report

According to the latest report by the National Crime Record Bureau, Maharashtra is one of the top three states accounting for a major share of total traffic accidents in the country in the year 2020. Dangerous or careless driving emerged as the main cause of road accidents in Maharashtra and Mumbai

According to the National Crime Record Bureau’s (NCRB) latest report on ‘Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India – 2020’, the number of road accidents decreased from 1,54,732 in 2019 to 1,33,201 in 2020. The dip was seen after a continuous surge in the number of road accidents from 2017 to 2019. The data suggests a similar trend in the number of railway accidents.
