“The clown’s job in society is to ‘comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable’. He holds the mirror for the audience. This principle allows us to tell our story as nothing else but as clowns,” says writer-director Rupesh Tillu, of Madbeth fame, who is set to introduce The Clowns, a devised performance that premieres at Prithvi theatre today as part of the Summertime@Prithvi festival. Tillu, who has studied the subject of clowns in detail, has woven a narrative around the jester. The act will be suitable for all ages above six.
