If you're keen to take a break from gadgets, and have a meaningful face-to-face interaction, Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum has the perfect solution for you. The museum is organising a fun and interactive community event around percussion instruments with Taal Inc, an organisation that has been bringing people together through music and art for a decade now.

The activity is part of the museum's outreach programme. Ruta Waghmare of Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum explains, "The aim is to offer a rich experience that responds to different ages, interests and language groups." Adds Devika Purandare of Taal Inc says, "Music is all about sharing a hearty laugh with people, connecting with them and jamming on-the-go. At the community drumming circle, we aim to use music as a tool to bring people together from different walks of life, and groove to the rhythm."

Expect the communal activity to be a noisy yet rhythmic affair, where people will be seated in a big circle with drums and other percussion instruments. A drum circle facilitator will involve participants by asking them to strike different beats. According to Purandare, everyone who participates has something to offer to the circle. She says, "These drum circles help people understand their individual importance as, if one person stops playing, the overall rhythm can get affected."

You do not need to be a drummer or be musically-inclined to join in. "Simply come with an open mind," adds Purandare.
