Dear Diana
Dear Diana,
I am 18 years old and will be appearing for my HSC board exams next year. I have been working hard for good grades as I am keen on doing medicine. I have been attending a vacation coaching class. Our biology teacher seems to be in his early 30s. I feel attracted to him. Biology happens to be my favourite subject. I enjoy his lectures. I like the way he conducts the class and the way he gives individual attention to every student. His teaching style is unique. I keep thinking about him. I am keen to know every detail about him. How do I get to know him better? At the same time, I know that I should not harbour such thoughts and concentrate on preparing for my HSC exams as well as my medical entrance exams. Am I in love with him? He keeps smiling at me even when I see him in the corridors of the coaching class. Often I go up to his cabin with my difficulties. Do you think he likes me?

Dear Anamika,
First of all are you in love with him or his method of teaching? You might be drawn towards him as it your favourite subject. It is common for youngsters to get infatuated with a teacher. Your biology teacher is young, so you feel drawn towards him. To you, he is not only a great teacher, but also a really caring person. As biology is your favourite subject, it is something you look forward to. There is no harm in getting to know him, but as a teacher. At this juncture, it is vital that you concentrate on your studies. I am sure you will wear off your infatuation when your coaching class ends. Back in college after the vacation, you will find yourself in a new class with new professors. So for now look forward to his class and teaching technique, but concentrate on your studies.
