Dear Diana,
I have been in a relationship with a guy for over a year. We are serious about each other. We met at a rock concert where we were with our bunch of pals. We just got talking, exchanged numbers and one thing led to another. His family, however, is not aware of our relationship. He tells me he does not know how to tell them about my presence in his life. He feels they will not accept me. I keep pushing him to tell them that there is someone in his life. But for the past year, he has not mustered enough courage to tell them. He tells me I am not the type of girl they would want as a daughter-in-law. We have been having major fights over it. Now he tells me they are on the look out for a suitable match for him and that even if he informs his family about me, they will now question why he kept me hidden from them for so long. Should I just break up with him? I should have got the hint long ago when he was dilly dallying about telling his parents about me.

Dear Ramiya,
This guy appears to be spineless. You should have realised that he is not serious about you. If he were, he would not have kept you guarded from them for almost a year. He seemed interested in only having a good time with you. What does he mean by saying that you are not the type his family would fancy? It was okay for you to be his girlfriend, but he cannot visualise you as his wife. He should have thought about all these aspects before getting into a relationship. The fact that he kept it under wraps is clear that he was not serious about you. Move away and next time be wary about falling for someone.
