The Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccine, used to treat tuberculosis since the last 100 years, is not effective against SARS-CoV-2, the virus behind Covid-19 infections, according to results of an international trial.
The trial, led by Murdoch Children's Research Institute in Australia, involved 3,988 health care workers from Australia, the Netherlands, the UK, Spain, and Brazil.
