Rs 1.30 lakh for a 250cc bike! Yes, that&rsquo;s what the new fz25 costs, making it the most affordable 250cc bike you can buy in India. While initially we thought the FZ25 would face heat from the likes of the Bajaj Dominar 400, Mahindra Mojo and the Benelli TNT 25, the eventual specs and pricing has changed the equation altogether.
The FZ25 produces a maximum power of 20.9PS @ 8000rpm and a peak torque of 20Nm @ 6000rpm. With a pricing of Rs 1.3 lakh (on -road, Delhi), the FZ25 now ends up locking horns with TVS Apache RTR200, Bajaj Pulsar Rs 200 and the Hero Karizma ZMR! If you are in the market for a affordable performance bike in the Rs 1.20 lakh-Rs 1.50 lakh range, the FZ25 will sound like a sweet deal. But then, there are similarly priced bikes that you could consider before finalizing your decision. We present 5 such alternatives:

The Yamaha YZF R15 revolutionised the premium 150cc segment with its styling, performance and aggressive riding position. It felt slightly overpriced for a 150cc bike but is still good value for the quality and kit it offers. The liquid-cooled 150cc produces 17PS @ 8500rpm and a peak torque of 15Nm @ 7500rpm. It gets a Deltabox frame which makes it quite agile. The R15 might not match the FZ25 on power but then on a hilly road, an R15 will be way faster. The perfect bike for corner-carving can be yours for Rs 1,28,398 (On-road Delhi).

You do get the Pulsar 220, which makes similar power to the FZ25, for far less moolah but the Pulsar RS200 is a better alternative. The Pulsar Rs 200 is the first faired bike from Bajaj and packs a good price-to-performance ratio for its class. Styling, performance, easy-to-ride nature and ABS are the positive points. The oil-cooled motor produces 24.5PS @ 9750rpm and 18.6Nm @ 8000 rpm. It is priced at Rs 1,48,887 (On-road Delhi) for the ABS variant.
 3) TVS Apache RTR 200 &ndash;

The TVS Apache RTR 200 gets huge improvements in style, performance, refinement, build quality and handling over the previous models. Stiff ride and lack of ABS may not work in its favour though TVS are working on an ABS version as well. The oil-cooled and fuel-injected 200cc single puts out 20PS @ 8500rpm and 18.1Nm of torque at 7000rpm. The fuel-injected variant can be yours for Rs 1,04,437.
 4) Hero Karizma ZMR &ndash;

The first Karizma, along with the first-gen Pulsar 180, reintroduced performance bikes to the masses, so, in a way, all entry-level performance bikes sold in India today owe their presence to the duo. The old Karizma was quite a looker but we cannot say the same about the ZMR. Nevertheless, the bike looks big and houses a tweaked version of the torquey 223cc, four-stroke engine that produces 20.27PS @ 8000rpm and 19.7Nm @ 6500rpm. So if you want that big bike feel and want a comfortable tourer then the Karizma ZMR makes sense for Rs 1,19,767 (On-road Delhi).

It offers performance similar to the Yamaha R15 but with more relaxed ergonomics. The liquid cooled 150cc motor makes 18.53PS @ 10,500 rpm and 12.66Nm @ 8500rpm. The CBR 150 R retails at Rs 1,33,570 (on-road Delhi).
