Witness a complete instrumental performance this Wednesday, as eclectic band Empty Cafe gets set to perform live at Swig
Come Wednesday, and Pune-based eclectic instrumental band Empty Cafe will perform live in the city. The live set will feature Gandhaar Amin on the Indian Bamboo Flute and Vinay Kaushal on the lead guitar. Though the band is a three-piece, this time, Saiprasad Shankar who plays the rhythm guitar won't be joining the band. The performance will comprise a perfect blend of Blues and Indian classical compositions. Young and talented musicians Vinay and Gandhaar will present their compositions in an instrumental set along with some backing tracks.
Talking about the performance, Vinay says, "We have original music and each song has an expression which we deliver through our music. Like the song 'Wounded' was the first song we wrote as a band. And since it was our first, we put our individual best in the song. Also, the track 'Barista Blues' is a song we composed at the Law College Road Barista outlet, where we spent most of our afternoons. The song was composed, when an Irani girl walked in. So the composition has a bit of a Turkish tune in it."
Songs without lyrics, doesn't mean you have to compulsory explain the meaning to the listeners, informs Vinay. "I don't tell the meaning of the song before we play it. We don't want to force our interpretation on the audience. For instance one of our songs, 'Two sides of an E' is a positive happy sounding musical track and it is interpreted differently by different people. The idea is to let people understand the song the way they want to."u00a0
