While there are plenty of images of mythological characters, artist Pratibha Wagh has gone ahead and created vivid puppet forms of gods, goddesses, human figures, birds, animals and trees. She also has semi-transparent puppets in yellow ochre and brown colours.
Wagh’s works are mixed media on paper with pasted overlay of rice paper to create a unique textural effect. The city-based artist has been inspired by folk arts and its beauty from childhood and through her artworks she expresses mythical characters as free spirited and vibrant.

Wagh has toured the world with her creations and was awarded a senior artist fellowship in visual arts from the Ministry of Tourism in 2006 to study Chitrakathi style of paintings (Chitrakathi are a community of migrating story tellers found across Maharashtra and parts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka).u00a0
Among her collection of paintings on display, we loved her images of goddess Saraswati and Durga, the image depicting women going to the riverfront, paintings of Hanuman, Kamadhenu, and Airawat.
