The Sharing Selfies' section on the Apple iTunes store would be home to dedicated apps such as Snapchat as well as Picr, a selfie diary app. Selfies, a picture of oneself, like a self-portrait, has become a rage on the social media, while the word Selfie in itself has been named as Oxford dictionary’s “word of the year” in 2013.

CEO of TechnoBuffalo. com, Jon Rettinger, said that the selfie section features 11 apps that are linked to social networks and Apple is putting them in front of people who are interested in taking self-portraits, and they want to sell apps that improve the overall experience.

Rettinger further said that app stores such as Google Play and Windows would follow suit with similar offerings, the report added.
