Greater Noida: Italian two-wheeler maker Piaggio, manufacturer of Vespa scooters, forayed into India's premium two-wheeler market by unveiling sports scooter-bike Aprilia SR 150.

The model, which will be launched in August, is a blend of motorbikes and scooter and sports a 150cc engine. The crossover will have 14-inch wheels like motorbikes and auto-gears like scooters.
Piaggio is also looking to cash in on the good potential of Aprilia SR 150 and is aiming to tap the young riders who are looking for the sensation of a sportbike and the convenience of a scooter during their daily city commute.
Stefano Pell, Chief Executive of the Italian automaker's Indian unit said: "Piaggio India is once again set to carve out a new category in the premium two wheeler segment with Aprilia SR 150."
He further added the company is aiming to cater to the desire of the discerning youth of India and crossover sports- scooter bike is designed to appeal to those looking for the sensation of sports bike and the convenience of automatic scooter in their daily city commute.
Besides Aprilia, Piaggio group also exhibited vehicles from Vespa and Moto Guzzi brands at the 13th Auto Expo.
