We loved this Tibetan bib with shells and red beads which make it versatile
enough to be paired with a western or a traditional outfit. Wear it with an
LBD and watch the heads turn. Price: Rs 3,995 At: Mela Siffin Apartment,
Dr Ambedkar Road, Pali Hill, Bandra (W). Call: 26497562
What to pair it with?
Bibs are essentially statement neckpieces. So, they need to be paired carefully. Don't throw away your oft-worn plain black tee because all you need is a bib to jazz it up. They can go equally well with monochrome dresses and saris as well. Simple neck and plain outfits look perfect with bibs, though pairing them with prints would be suicide. Apart from getting lost in the print, they could look plain atrocious. Bibs usually have ribbon tie-ups and the length can be adjusted to suit the outfit. Bibs can also be paired with formal apparel. Wear a simple one with a shirt and tie it under the collar.
Feather accessories too have been trending. This bib with feather trimmings
would look great on a black flowy maxi dress. Price: Rs 1200 At: Besos
Next to Gloria Jeans Caf ufffd, Bandra (W) and Kemps Corner.
Wall of fame
Many international designers have used bibs along with their lines: Vera Wang, Valentino, Dsquared 2 and Roberto Cavalli to name a few. Celebrities such as Drew Barrymore, Mischa Barton, Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce have been seen wearing them too.
If the above two bibs are too much to handle, go for this pink floral bib
which would look great with your plain white shirt for office. Price:
Rs 280 At: Blur, SV Road, Asiad Shopping Complex Santacruz (W),
Infinity mall, Oberoi mall, Malad.
Bibs are popular in the Indian fashion scene as well. We spoke to theatre personality Dolly Thakore, who is known for her choice of chunky and artistic jewellery and found some gems from her collection. The chunky silver bib she is wearing in the picture was gifted to her by actress Pooja Bedi.
"I am very particular about what I wear, keeping my age in mind. Most of the jewellery I pick are inexpensive good buys that I have spotted in different places such as the Khan Market (Delhi), Dastakar Sales, Curio Cottage or the Kala Ghoda festival," she says.
We found great bibs made of fabric flowers, netted and metallic ones costing as little as Rs 250, but thought of looking for some bold ones which only the lioness-hearted can carry off.
