Chai Community is a new initiative that aims to bring people who love tea together for music, dance, films, and a lot more
It might seem that technology has made communication simpler, but Shreya Naik of Dream Makers, an artiste management company begs to differ. “Today, everyone is on social media but the amount of personal interaction among people has reduced. With Chai Community we wanted to merge different forms of art together and have a community of people who have a fun afternoon. The common thread binding them is their love for tea,” says Naik, who has organised the first edition of Chai Community (CC).

CC will be held one Sunday every month with the aim to act as a live and offline communication social network between people coming from various different art forms under one roof. There’s also free chai for all! This month’s event includes a performance by Titanium, a two-piece band comprising Aman Bajaj on drums and percussion, and Rohini Maiti (both are 14-year-old school students) on guitars and vocals.
There will also be a performance by musicians Ayush Shrestha and Vivaan Kapoor. For those who want to participate in making music, bring your own drums, djembe or any thing that makes music and be a part of Anand Bhagat’s drum circle who will also be a part of the event.
“Since CC is about communication, I thought Tyu’s Company, one of the short films we are screening will be apt for the session. This sci-fi short is about a women who hasn’t been in communication with people for a long time and then comes back to the society one day,” says Naik. The second short film, The Tigers, They’re all Dead, is a political satire on how environmental issues in our country take a political twist. Both films are by 21-year-old filmmaker, Reema Sengupta.
For their talk session, CC will see singer Neeti Mohan share her journey in the music industry, from winning a reality show to being a part of AR Rahman’s tour. Foodies can look forward to artisan products such as Bacon Jam and Onion Marmalade by the enterprise, Life Ki Recipe.
