After 24 years of designing garments, internationally acclaimed designers, Hemant Sagar and Didier Lecoanet have now made their foray into the jewellery segment that fuses high fashion into daily use

Classic meets contemporary

“I see an urban professional woman wearing our jewellery,” that was the inspiration behind the first ever jewellery collection of Indo-French fashion label Lecoanet Hemant, owned by designer duo Didier Lecoanet and Hemant Sagar.

“We launched our debut Leather collection earlier this year, which focused on bags, belts, etc, for both men and women; we felt it would be an interesting concept to expand the range from bags to jewellery. For us, the right accessories including jewellery play an important role in one’s appearance,” says Sagar.

Eveready, everyday
Keeping in mind fashion-forward women, the jewellery line has been designed to suit everyday dressing with light, subtle, yet chic designs. Charms such as hearts, circles and stars, have been incorporated in the line along with necklaces, cocktail rings, earrings and bracelets. Shades of beige and gold highlight the key pieces from the collection and varied metals like brass and nickel have been used to create the pieces.

Sagar, along with his partner Lecoanet has been presenting haute couture and ready-to-wear collections every season since they started. He specifies that the philosophy behind the collection was to create more statement pieces where the focus is the design and there is something for everyone, so that it appeals to a wider audience.

He also mentioned that while designing this collection, the modern day Indian woman was their inspiration. “This is for a woman who is confident and knows what she wants and what looks good on her. She loves the classic coupled with contemporary. We have used elements of graphics and graffiti in the collection.”

More experimentation
Since the designs by Lecoanet Hemant have always been a mix of Indian and European influences, the jewellery collection is also a continuation of the same style and work. However, the designers are keen to explore more innovation in the segment.

“There would be more innovations in this segment. It is a continuous procedure of complementing creations with new elements that reflect trends and times,” confirms the designer, adding that he never experiences any clash of opinion with his French partner while designing the collections, as they are always very clear about how they want the final product to be.
