Live music might be your biggest stress buster but half the time you don't know where your favourite bands are playing. You want to organise a show for your college fest and don't know how to contact all the concerned people? Bassist Husain Bandukwala from the Mumbai-based metal band Demonic Resurrection brings in a solution for you through his newly launched website www.indiagigalert.com. The website India Gig Alert (IGA), Husain claims is the first of its kind and aims to connect the industry with fans, bands and professionals all over the world under one roof and at a click.

"I've been in the Indie music scene since the past nine years through Demonic Resurrection, Resurrection Festival and other such events. We've all faced a lot of issues as a band, manager and fan in networking easily, getting things done quickly or simply having a platform to express our music," confesses Bandukwala, the founder of the website.
Bandukwala says that the website is by and for music lovers. The website also features a gig calendar that can be updated by bands and event organisers. Through IGA, fans and musicians will not only be informed about upcoming gigs worldwide but will also be able to access the merchandise and music of their favourite bands in a section titled CD bazaar. Under a sub category titled Independent Artists, established labels can also offer freeu00a0 tracks to download. Also, gig photographers can upload concert photographs for everyone to view. However, Bandukwala says that Do-It-Yourself (DIY) section is one of the highlights of IGA.u00a0u00a0
Explaining that the DIY resource is for those who want to do something for the scene but never really had the right people to do it with, Bandukwala says, "If you are a college student in Surat and wish to do a gig for your college, there are listings for sound engineers, lights engineers, guys who can make your posters. Just click, contact and connect!"
In the coming days, he promises that IGA will provide a list of resources for the DIY section, lots of independent artists and labels selling their merchandise, catalogues of gig photographs and various blogs covering the Indie music scene.
What we like:
The website has clear categories with subsections that makes it easy to navigate. Also, apart from calendars the India Music News section captures daily news from independent blogs and also carries reviews of your favourite musicians.
What we don't like:
We would have been happier if there were more updates on gigs in cities other than Mumbai.
