An upcoming travel portal seeks to help travellers connect in remote locations

Coming soon: Help for remote travel buffs

Soon, travellers to remote locations will be able to connect with like-minded folks on their journeys. Navigers is an upcoming web service that aims to offer a free platfrom for solo travellers to find help during a journey.

So, the next time you are stranded with a broken-down bike, or if you meet with an accident, help will not be too far. Navigers will help you find travellers willing to take the same road along with you, and if necessary, mech-anics, too.
The service is the brainchild of Devansh Chaurasiya, a 34-year-old biker and business consultant, whose passion includes going on high-altitude rides.

"The idea struck me when I was biking in Spiti Valley. I had crossed Kunzum La and was in Rohtang La. The kind of danger it possesses made me look up to the skies and pray that my bike shouldn’t break down. It was no man’s land," he recalls, adding that he is currently busy collecting information on mechanics available at remote locations, and how they can be contacted via the platform if need be.

The service isn’t limited to bikers, though. Navigers will also offer hotels at budget rates, rental services for motorcycles, cars and bicycles, as well as travel packages. It will also help travellers set up groups, plan logistics, and share their experiences with others seeking to satisfy their travel urges.

"We are ready with the initial designs for the website. It’s being developed and we expect it to go online by next year," says Chaurasiya, who has travelled to remote locations like the Spiti Valley, Ladakh and the jungles of Cambodia.

Navigers currently requires initial funding of Rs 5 lakh to kickstart the process, and is currently listed on a crowdfunding platform for the same. So far, it has received Rs 47,656 from 28 backers.
