Manhattan white
For that sophisticated simplicity try the Dewar's 12 Manhattan. Dating back to the 19th century the Manhattan is one of the finest and oldest cocktails still popular today.

>>u00a03/4 parts sweet vermouth
>>u00a02 1/2 parts Dewar's ufffd 12 Blended Scotch whiskey
>>u00a01 dash Angostura ufffd bitters
>>u00a0 1 maraschino cherry
>>u00a01 twist orange peel
Method:
Combine the vermouth, Dewar's 12, and bitters with 2 - 3 ice cubes in a mixing glass. Stir gently, without clouding the drink. Place the cherry in a chilled cocktail glass and strain the whiskey mixture over the cherry. Rub the cut edge of the orange peel over the rim of the glass and twist it over the drink to release the oils
Variation:u00a0No bitters. Substitute a twist of lime for the cherry and orange. Hold the lime twist in a lighted match over the drink and then drop it in. The heat really zips up the lime flavour.
