It’s an eclectic combination. At least, going by the logic that went into creating the quirk-filled online fashion destination, Polka Bombay:u00a0“Geetanjali loves polka dots and I love Bombay, so we decided to mix both of it for the name of our brand,” explains 25-year-old Gunjan Chawla, who along with Geetanjali Nenwani set up PB, which offers fashionable accessories and outfits that are as interesting as their name. Chawla is a senior producer for a television channel while Nenwani who is a year older than Chawla, is a former Radio Jockey. Both were students at Sophia College where they were bitten by the fashion bug.

“We wanted to promote fashion among the youth that would fit their budgets (their products cost a maximum of Rs 1,200). That’s how we started. Initially, we would source products.u00a0We didn’t have the time to design because of our jobs,” shares Chawla. The enterprising duo have plans to start a fashion café as well where interested folks can check out the products on offer. To kick-start this enterprise, they have enrolled for a baking course at the Institute of Hotel Management at Dadar.

All PB products are sold through their page on Facebook and before putting up any new product they also put up posts describing how a particular style is trending in the world of fashion and what one can pair it with. The products are an interesting mix of chic, bohemian and funky outfits and jewellery but their USP is their customised service.

You can also suggest crochet jewellery and palazzo pants stitched in colours of your choice. The duo introduces accessories that are in vogue, so you’re bound to find feather hair accessories and even shatter nail paint in their brochures. Nenwani, who travels extensively, sources embroidered leather sling bags, jootis, and beaded jewellery from her home state, Madhya Pradesh as well as other regions of the country.
