Delhi-based Rang Theatre Festival will be debuting in the city with two productions Wo Lahore and Arjun Ka Beta
Though three years old, Delhi-based the Films and Theatre Society will be bringing its select productions -- Arjun Ka Beta and Wo Lahore -- to the city as part of the Rang Theatre Festival. Founded in 2009, the Society has endeavoured to be a creative platform for professionals who wish to explore and devise theatrical performances on the weekends.

With nine productions and 55 shows in their kitty, the group, however, is not unfamiliar with the audiences of Mumbai. “We came with Arjun Ka Beta at Kala Ghoda last year. It is a play that looks at the episode of Chakravyuha and accommodates perspectives of various characters and interpretations regarding the episode,” relates Atul Satya Koushik, the director of the festival. Wo Lahore, on the other hand, is setup in the time of the 1940s, wherein a mother called Jamuna has three sons. It is about how she survives those times along with tracing the story of her family.
Koushik stresses on how these plays will be a significant watch, “Both the plays have interesting elements. While Arjun Ka Beta has Thang Ta, a Manipuri martial arts form, Wo Lahore, being a play based in Punjab, is a drama that will be filled with folk music from the state.”
On: September 21 and 22, 7.30 pm
