Held at Gateway of India last year, the much-awaited Elephanta Festival will now return to it's original venue, at the UNESCO World Heritage Site on the historic island
Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation’s (MTDC) Elephanta Festival will be back in the city next month and as a bonus, the festival will happen at Elephanta, unlike last year when the venue was shifted to Gateway of India due to several logistical issues like electricity outlets and visitors’ safety for the evening shows.

This year, the festival will include performances like Sannidhi — a confluence of seven classical dance forms by Parvathy Datta, Sufi Kathak by Manjiri Chaturvedi, and will see several artistes like Ranjit Barot, Shujat Khan, George Brooks and Shweta Pandit perform live. For lovers of heritage, MTDC has organised guided tours of the Elephanta Caves by Dr GB Deglurkar of Pune’s Deccan College.
The organisers have also opened entries for a painting competition in association with Sir JJ School of Arts.
