Following the growing demand for touchscreen infotainment systems in cars, Ford has begun R&D on their own touchscreen systems. These infotainment systems are most likely to be introduced in the Figo and the Figo Aspire facelift, due to be launched in 2018. Later, it will find its way into other Ford models as well. As of now, Ford only offers a touchscreen unit in the Endeavour, all other models feature the SYNC system.

Equipping the Figo and the Aspire with a touchscreen would mean redesigning the dashboard. This might be why Ford wants to wait until the facelift to reveal the same. The current models come equipped with SYNC and AppLink. The SYNC system lets you pair your smartphone to make calls, use text-to-speech technology, and play music by using voice commands. In the event of an accident, the system will automatically call emergency services and share your GPS location. The AppLink system allows you to access apps on your paired smartphone by voice commands.
Competing with the Figo Aspire, the Volkswagen Ameo and the Tata Zest have a touchscreen infotainment system on offer. On the other hand, the Tata Bolt which competes with the Figo also offers a touchscreen infotainment unit. Seeing how the trend is picking up, soon most of the cars will come equipped with one.
