The Daal-Baati-Churma we sampled was very tasty and so are the Chaats on offer. The Sweet Basara Rice topped with ghee, sugar icing and Imarati were delicious.
The Royal Food Festival is based on preparations by Queen Jodha Bai. The festival is an attempt to explore the essence and aromas of royal Rajasthani cuisine, which is influenced by the Rajputs, Marwaris, Vaishnavs and even Mughals.
This festival is titled the Queen Jodha Bai Festival because Jodha Bai, Akbar’s first wife was a pure vegetarian Rajput and her kitchen was known for the vegetarian delicacies. It also influenced Akbar to turn vegetarian. Queen Jodha Bai’s vegetarian delicacies boast of traditional Indian flavours and Emperor Akbar would have food from Queen Jodha Bai’s kitchen on Thursdays.
The food festival offers a traditional Thali which boasts of exotic food specialties and delicacies from Rajasthan. Relish the piquant flavours of traditional Rajasthani cuisine like Dai Shorba (a frothy yoghurt-based soup), Tamatar Shorba, Ker Sangri, Mangodi Alu ki Shak , Jaisalmeri Chane, Besanwali Bharwan Mirch, Kadhi and Gatte ki Subzi on your thali during the festival at Rasoi.
You can enjoy these with a variety of accompaniments such as Puri, Kachauri, Missi Roti, Tikadia, Jowar ki Roti, Bajre ki Roti and Chane ki Roti to name a few.
If you have a sweet tooth then try their exotic Halwa–Puri, Chashni, Moong Dal ka Halwa, Sohan Halwa, Motichur ka Laddu, Besan ka Laddu, Dal ka Laddu, Gaund ka Laddu, Makhane ka Kheer, Jhajharia and Mawa Kachori.
Subhadeep, GM of Ramee Grand Hotel, said “The timing of the festival has been decided keeping in mind the Ganesh Chaturthi, when even the most ardent non-vegetarian convert to vegetarianism. With this festival we want to give them one more reason to turn vegetarian and enjoy the festival to the fullest.”
