For nearly two months now, the theatre circuit has been abuzz with developments in playwright-director Manav Kaul's new play Laal Pencil.
Even while Manav was not in the city, rehearsals were conducted by other senior members of his theatre group, aRANYA.

Regular theatregoers have come to expect quality productions by the group and hopefully their latest play will live up to our expectations. The play is essentially about a young school girl, who finds a 'magical' red pencil.

The girl finds that she writes beautiful poetry every time she lifts the pencil and soon enough her poetry brings her fame and adulation from friends and teachers.
Eventually, the pain of keeping a secret gets too much for the little girl. With plays like Park and Mamtazbhai Patangwale, we've seen how Manav deftly portrays contemporary issues through his brand of Hindi Theatre.
With Laal Pencil, get ready to enter Manav's surreal world.
