We loved this healthy tabeez that we chanced upon. Filled with camphor and strung together with tulsi beads, the tabeez claims to protect you from epidemic virus, cough, cold, dengue and chikungunya. “The camphor (kapoor) in the tabeez is also a great mosquito repellent, disinfectant and has a natural perfume,” says Aavriti Jain who designed them for a Jaipur-based brand Dhora India.

“I was discussing the number of dangerous epidemic diseases that are affecting us these days with my house help. He suggested that I put camphor all over the house, which is not really possible. That’s when I thought why not put them in neckpieces so that it is with you at all times,” adds the 26-year-old entrepreneur.
While the shape remains like that of an authentic tabeez, you can choose from a variety of prints in different colours. “Instead of using the typical red and pink cloth that the tabeez is usually found in, we wrapped these funky ones in Jaipuri block printed cloth and hung them on a tulsi seed string,” she adds.
