The second edition of Tagore Literature Awards will bring together exemplary writers in eight Indian languages on a common dais today

Eight Indian languages up on stage together? Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore who was born on May 7, 1861, the second edition of Tagore Literature Awards will honour selected literary works in Assamese, Dogri, Marathi, Oriya, Rajasthani, Santhali, Tamil and Urdu.

For those who are fans of Tagore, an ambassador of our culture to the rest of the world and the first non-European to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, there will be treats galore in the form of readings from Tagore's works. Santoor maestro Rahul Sharma will pay homage to Gurudev, as Tagore's sobriquet goes, with Rabindra sangeet.
