In showbiz, you are never too thin. That's why most celebrities turn to drastic weight loss programmes even if they've put on half a pound. The latest fad to catch Hollywood's fancy is the Fat Flush Diet suggested by author of The Fat Flush Plan, Ann Louise Gittleman.
What is the Fat Flush Diet?
>>The goal is to increase your metabolism, reduce water retention, and aid fat loss.
>>It's a low-carbohydrate, three-phase diet regimen that focuses on eating the right fats rather than restricting any kind of fat. It promises to melt fat from the hips, waist and thighs in two weeks.

The three phases
Phase 1: For two weeks
This is a restrictive phase, where you are only allowed to consume 1,100 to 1,200 calories a day. The intention is to lose bloat. You are not allowed margarine, alcohol, sugar, oils or fats (except flaxseed oil), grains, bread, cereal, starchy vegetables and dairy products. Even herbs and spices are restricted to a small list.
Phase 2
The calorie allowance is increased to 1,500 calories.
Phase 3
Essentially a weight maintenance phase, with a caloric intake of 1,500 calories or over. Some starchy carbs are gradually re-introduced, along with gluten-free grains, and some dairy. This diet should be followed on a daily basis, till you get the desired results.
Exercise requirement
It can be anything from 20 to 40 minutes of exercise per day, depending on the phase. The exercises will include low-impact cardio (walking) and strength training (lifting weights). A sleep prescription of exactly eight hours per night is also required.
Foods that can keep away bloating
>>Legumes, dried beans and peas, baked beans and soya beans.
>>Vegetables like cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower.
>>Cereals and wheat.
>>At least 1 cup of yogurt a day. The active cultures in curd aid digestion and increase good bacteria in the gut.
>>1 elaichi banana daily.
>>Garlic. Add it to salad, dals and veggies.
The Monk is on it
TV series Monk star Tony Shalhoub has switched to the Fat Flush Diet to lose holiday weight. "You have to drink a lot of liquids, unsweetened cranberry juice and other awful things," moans the actor who doesn't want to look chubby on the red carpet at awards shows. .
You'll lose weight, but also be depressed and bad in bed

It will result in significant weight loss in the first phase because your calorie intake is very low. However, since it limits calories and food choices, it's hard to follow. Most of you might quickly tire of it and and will regain lost weight once off it. It's expensive to follow since cranberry juice and flaxseed oil are costly. I'd suggest you stay on it for 10 days only.
>>You could feel low, get tired easily since carbohydrates aren't included, especially in the first two phases.
>>It may decrease your efficiency at work, and you may experience headaches or acidity.
>>It could result in a hormonal imbalance that could affect your sex drive.
>>It's not advisable for pregnant women and pre and post menopausal women, because during these times, women need calcium. This diet does not provide adequate calcium due to the absence of dairy products.
