Clothing is the most important element in a wedding ensemble. A key factor in versatility is the colour palette. Since wardrobe essentials have to go with diverse attire, it tends to get monochromatic and neutral. For this season, bright shades like jalebi-orange, marigold yellow; all shades of pink, along with violet colors are in vogue. Avoid maroon.

For brides, the colours should be medium to bright, like red shades and combination of red and orange, pink with a bit of embroidery and zari work done on it.
There should be a collection of two–three sarees along with jewellery for different functions before the big day. For example, for the sangeet, orange or a shade of pink goes best. For mehendi, green sarees work wonders,” says Shouger Merchant Doshi, designer of ZanaãYa Couture label.
The anarkali with zari work is also an interesting add on to the closet. This, with light silver or platinum jewellery will make for a showstopper. Apart from it, bridal wedding saree with dupatta or a half saree with tulle dupatta attached to the blouse is the trend, unlike the traditional or georgette crepe sarees.
“For post-wedding functions keep 10 to 15 outfits including saree, salwar kameez, and bridal lehenga-choli ready. The collection should be of light to medium colours so it may compliment different occasions. Attention should also be given to hairpieces like clips that add plenty of charm,” continues Shouger.
Jewellery should be carried keeping the function in mind. For wedding, dress matching heavy gold jewellery goes best, and for other functions light and simple gold accessory adds simple and great charm.
u00a0“Maintain a contrast for your attire and accessory; if you are wearing a heavily ornate outfit, opt for light and sober jewellery. Often, brides make the mistake of matching their lipstick and shadow with their dress colour. In makeup, it’s okay to experiment, but wear your makeup a bit lighter than the dress colour,” says designer Aniket Satam.
