Most Mumbaiites will have a story to share about their experiences at the Taj Mahal Hotel, be it a wait in the sprawling main lobby, a tipple at the Harbour Bar, a memorable Indian lunch at the Shamiana or a sushi-satiated Japanese escape at Wasabi.

Of course, one cannot proceed without mentioning the many historic corners and contours that make this magnificent landmark.

Recently, the same experience has been made available to non-guests as well. We were lucky enough to be a part of one such walk down history. The grand stairway, the original entrance, the Ballroom, the Harbour Bar and the Sea Lounge were some of the stops along this 90-minute memoir-filled sojourn, even as one could only marvel at the aura that stamps its status as a city icon.
